What are Hormones?

Hormones are powerful chemical messengers made by endocrine glands inside our body that travel through the bloodstream and bind to hormone receptors on or inside our cells. For proper function, each hormone must fit into the hormone receptor of each cell like a key in a lock. When the key and lock don’t fit exactly, hormonal dysfunction and health problems can result. This is why your body’s own hormones (or “bio-identical” hormones) are better than synthetic, foreign ones.

Hormones are the language that cells use to communicate. They play a role in:

When you consider that hormones are involved in nearly everything that goes on in your body, it’s no wonder that an imbalance in hormones can result in many health problems. Hormone imbalance can occur at any age, and many hormones decline with age. Aging accelerates as hormone levels decline. As hormone levels decline, health declines. Hormone balance is greatly influenced by diet and lifestyle choices. Supplementing with bio-identical hormones can balance and correct many of these deficiencies.

How do you know if you have a hormone imbalance?

Symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, memory loss, mood swings, low sex drive, fatigue, irregular or heavy periods, breast tenderness, increased skin wrinkling, weight gain, anxiety, tearfulness, painful breasts, migraine headaches, water retention, and bone and mineral loss are just a few.

How can hormone imbalance be corrected?
The first step is to properly diagnose the root cause and then treat the causes of hormone   imbalance when possible. Providing your body with the elements from proper nutrition needed to make its own hormones is fundamental. The next step is to supplement with bio-identical hormones to restore deficient hormones.
